At Coley Cottages, we believe holidays are better when your dogs come too. We welcome up to two dogs in all of our cottages at no extra cost, and as dog owners ourselves, we’ve designed each space with both people and paws in mind.
From enclosed gardens and practical layouts to walks straight from the doorstep, everything is set up to make travelling with dogs easy and enjoyable. Each stay also includes a small dog welcome pack, so your four-legged companions feel just as at home as you do.
We are a small, family-run business with four carefully designed cottages across Hawkshead, Coniston and the surrounding area. Each one has its own character, combining comfort, thoughtful design and a great location for exploring the Lake District.

Craftsman’s Loft – Hawkshead (Sleeps 2)
A stylish and cosy barn conversion in the heart of Hawkshead, perfect for couples and their dog. Just a short walk from pubs, shops and scenic trails, it’s an ideal base for exploring without needing the car. There’s even a dedicated dog shower, making it easy after muddy walks before settling back in.
Pepper Cottage – Near Hawkshead/Ambleside (Sleeps 4)
A modern, spacious cottage in a peaceful hamlet with beautiful countryside views and a fully enclosed garden that’s perfect for dogs to explore safely. With open-plan living and walks from the doorstep, it’s ideal for families or couples looking to relax and unwind. Close to Tarn Hows and Hawkshead, it’s perfectly placed for some of the Lake District’s best dog-friendly routes.
Mountain Cottage – Coniston (Sleeps 5)
A characterful 19th century cottage within walking distance of Coniston village and the lake, offering a great mix of comfort and adventure. The enclosed garden and multiple outdoor spaces give dogs plenty of room, while the surrounding area provides easy access to scenic walks straight from the door. A great choice for active breaks with dogs.
The Roost – Hawkshead (Sleeps 6)
A spacious, detached cottage right in the heart of Hawkshead, combining village convenience with a private enclosed garden and plenty of room to unwind. Ideal for families or groups travelling with dogs, with walks, pubs and shops all just a short stroll away. The generous layout and outdoor space make it a comfortable and practical base for both people and pets.
